Show and Tell Friday
January 4, 2008Scroll down for BAD ART FRIDAY
This is my FIRST SHOW AND TELL and I’m very happy to participate. I happened across this meme on Kelli’s blog “There’s No Place Like Home.”
Here are two decorative pieces from my home that I love.
I bought this cloisonne enamel vase when I was in Hong Kong almost 30 years ago. I’m not so sure it’s the real thing but I thought it was beautiful when I bought it and I still do.
This large Chinese bowl is about 15 years old and has sat on my dining room table all that time. It’s quite colorful and I put nothing in it. I think it’s beautiful on it’s own, I think. It’s not expensive, I’m sure, but I just love it.

Hi Maryt,
Those pieces are both so pretty and interesting with so much detail. It’s great to enjoy our treasures and have them out to be enjoyed by others too! Welcome to Show and Tell!
Hello Mary,
How awesome it is that you have kept your stuff for so many decades and they still looked as new as they were bought yesterday! Thanks you so much for your encouraging words. I appreciated it. You take care and keep blogging!
PS: I will go check out Kelli’s blog for Show and Tell now.

I love the bowl too. My son bought me a cool one in shades of brown when he was in China–I will have to display that one sometime!
Welcome to show and tell Mary. You have had that one piece for 30 years! you must have taken good care of it. Thank you for sharing your interesting and beautiful pieces from the past.
They’re absolutely beautiful! A fabulous Show N Tell!!!!
I like your oriental collectables. They look lovely.

both are beautiful pieces. i bet they look lovely in your home. thanks for sharing.
I like those pieces. I have some very old cloisonne pieces and some beautiful bits of china that are similar to these. I love the stories they tell. I am looking for a fairly compact book on the symbolism employed in this art. It’s so dreamy.
Thanks everyone for commenting so appreciatively!
Welcome to show and tell Friday! The vase is lovely and the bowl is just beautiful! Both are great treasures!
