Boy, 7, mistaken for terror suspect
A seven-year-old boy was stopped three times by airport officials – because he shares his name with a terror suspect.
Javaid Iqbal, from Blackburn [Lancashire, England], was being taken to Florida by his mum as a treat for passing school exams, reports The Sun.
The family faced delays flying out from Manchester and on arrival at Orlando International.
And as they flew back via Philadelphia, a computer flagged up the lad’s name and airport officials cancelled their US Airways tickets.
The security alerts were triggered because Javaid shares his name with a Pakistani man deported from the US.
Doctor mum Naushaba Nadeem, 35, who also took her three other children on the trip, admitted: “I started crying.”
“I understand and agree security checks are important but he is only seven and a half years old.”
The family were eventually allowed to travel home on a later flight.
Javaid said: “I’m only young – I haven’t done anything against the law.”
His parents, who moved to Blackburn from Saudi Arabia in 2002, are now considering changing their son’s name.
Here’s what the BBC said:
First of all,His family, who live in Blackburn, said they would not be changing his name.
Speaking about the experience Javaid’s father Nadeem Iqbal said that the security services should take a more sensible approach.
“A suspect’s date of birth should also be included on the security database,” Mr Iqbal said.
“We do appreciate the security checks at Manchester, but this is not fair for someone who is seven years old.”

What nice people, no yelling, no screaming. Very reasonable. They are indeed models for their children. I assume they went to Disney World. I hope they had a good time.
