Give Me Five tips and tricks for keeping your house clean and clutter free.

1. Mop only those parts of the floor that people can see.

2. Blow the dust off the furniture every day. As you pass a piece of furniture blow at it. It will keep the dust at bay for a time.

3. Convert from oil to gas heat

4. No curtains on any windows. No blinds. Shades only. Cheap ones so you can throw them away when they get yellow.

5. Hire a cleaning service and have them come every third week whether your house needs it or not.

Go to BeccA’s Buzz for other participants and some real good suggestions for keeping your house clean.

My husband and I went to Versailles with his computer company back in the 1990s. We had to wear authentic dress to attend a ball there. Above is the Hall of Mirrors. We strolled around the grounds in the evening and had the ball in the Orangerie. It was an incredible affair.

We’ve gone to all the places listed above. I think the only place I’d still like to go is Amsterdam. My husband has already been there.

Give Me Five ‘favorite searches’ on Ebay (for shopping or browsing or any other ideas not selling related)!

1. Mystery/thrillers

I can find a lot of books for very little money. I am a casual reader of Elmore Leonard, Martin Cruz Smith, W.E.B. Griffith, Michael Connolly. Great mystery writers. I read mysteries for relaxation. I read literature for my college classes.

2. Sculpture, figures

For Home and Garden. When it get’s closer to Spring I’ll go looking for garden decorations. Below is a sculpture of Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry. I have a lovely, shaded spot in my back yard for him.

4. Florida vacations

Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Hollywood vacations at really reduced rates. Florida is a great place to vacation. I’ve shared time share vacations with friends and we’ve had a wonderful time.

5. Signed first editions

Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, Jean Paul Satre. Of course Hillary and Bill’s first editions are expensive but Satre’s is not. It’s hard to tell whose first editions will be valuable in the future so I buy for myself and what I like.

Give Me Five Monday Meme #7

December 31, 2007

Becca’s topic for today is

Give Me Five ideas for kicking off your new year whether that be party suggestions or weight loss ideas or simply goals you have or crafty ideas you have been thinking about starting, the sky is the limit on this one!

Okay, Becca here are 5 simple goals for 2008 (in order of importance):

1. Get a new couch. My couch is looking pretty crumby these days and I’ve been thinking about getting a new one for some time now.

2. Get my husband to give up his very old chair (that’s been re-upholstered 2x) and get him a new one. This new chair will be in the living room with the new couch mentioned above.

3. Begin straightening up my office. Some of my regular readers know what I mean. See photos of my messy office.

4. Clean out my pantry (Becca’s suggestion) and my refrigerator. There’s a lot of old stuff in them thar places.

5. Package up some books to give to nursing homes in my area. I’ve done this before and they were very grateful. My local library doesn’t need or want my old paperbacks.

Happy New Year to one and all!
